Of Legierdemaine & Diverse Juggling Knacks by John Braun

One of the greatest pleasures in reading old copies of The Linking Ring is John Braun’s column Of Legierdemaine and Diverse Juggling Knacks. You were never sure what piece of information or wonderful story you might find. He wrote these columns from 1949 until 1966. He also was editor of The Linking Ring from 1942 until 1950 and again from 1965 to 1967. Now all of John’s columns have been brought together in a new book edited by William Broecker and published by Ken Klosterman. The book, called what else but Of Legierdemaine and Diverse Juggling Knacks, is almost 600 pages long. It is indexed, which for the first time makes the valuable information in the columns easily accessible.

For seventeen and a half years, John Braun – longtime editor of The Linking Ring, international president of the IBM, and one of magic’s most respected writers – produced a monthly column, Of Legierdemaine and Diverse Juggling Knacks.

Now, those columns have been collected and indexed into one magnificent volume. As you journey through these pages, you’ll discover hundreds of stories and tricks of magicians like Kellar, Robert-Houdin, Germain, Maskelyne, Devant, Ching Ling Foo, Herrmann and T. Nelson Downs.
